Homes in Woods Cross are Sinking
Several homes in the Farm Meadows subdivision of Woods Cross have been experiencing settling in their homes. This is causing foundations to crack, separations between walls and ceilings and floors to slope.
Woods Cross City Manager Gary Uresk said “after some extensive investigation, the city is reasonably convinced that the drought is behind the sinking beneath the homes.” He said there are 20 homes in the area with significant structural damage and several others with lesser problems. According to a recent KTUV news report by Chris Jones, the problem may be spreading to other areas of the city.
Davenport Foundation Repair is working to fix one of the homes mentioned in the report. We have installed 53 piers to help stabilize the home. These will jack up the home and hold it in place. Homeowner Karen Bennett says they feel good about being proactive and knows it will save her home.
